Editorial independence
No advertiser, supplier, matcha brand or outside body has any influence over the editorial content of this site. Decisions about what to publish, how to assess it and what to recommend belong to the editorial team alone.
Fact checking
Every statistic, scientific figure or market datum published must have a verifiable primary source, not a second-hand aggregator. Where a figure cannot be verified at source, it is not published, or it is explicitly marked as an estimate.
Criteria for entering the ranking
To appear in the ranking, a matcha must: (1) be regularly available where we buy our samples, in Spain; (2) provide verifiable information on its origin, cultivar or growing region; (3) have been assessed with the standard method described on the transparency page.
Updates to the ranking
The ranking is updated quarterly, or whenever there is a significant change in the availability, price or formulation of the products included. Updates are dated in the ranking.
